[photogallerylink id=72854 align =right]Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones were the perfect hosts as CBS Interactive boarded the ACM bus at the Freemont Street Experience staging area, to spend a few minutes catching up with the country sweethearts known as [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Steel Magnolia[/lastfm]! Find out those things you didn’t know and get all the details on the making of the music videos, particularly the erotic scenes!
NOTE: To read more Q & A with Steel Magnolia – scroll to the bottom of this post and select the next number!
1. Where were you when you found out you were nominated for an ACM Award? (You’re not gonna believe this one. . .)
“Twitter. We were on twitter. We found out from a fan that tweeted at us ‘congratulations on your nomination! I had to google our name to find out what we were being nominated for!” Talk about the speed of technology! Meghan mentioned that she’s decided that should be a “new thing,” that they find out when they are nominated for something via twitter!
And we thought that technology was fast – check out Darth Vader working his magic in the “Big Machine Empire!”
2. Speaking of Twitter, we know some artists have their ‘people’ take care of their social networking, do you run your own Twitter and Facebook?
“Yes, always, we do.”

4. You are natural born actors and your videos are full of sensuality. Does it feel that way when you are filming or is it all technical?
“It’s different, like we had never done a bed scene before, and we did one on the second video, where we wake up together. I was in bed and Josh fell asleep while we were shooting. (Yes, he snores a little) I was in this nightie thing and got up and I realized there were 20 camera guys all around. Thought I should put on a robe or something.”
“Just By Being You (Halo & Wings)”
You are very convincing in your videos – “We have a lot of chemistry together and we actually do sing when we are doing our videos so it doesn’t look like we are trying to lip-synch.”
5. In your video for “Last Night Again” was there an intentional direction to relate to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Olivia Newton-John[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Travolta[/lastfm] in Grease?
“That was our manager Virginia, we were performing on the ACM Awards in Vegas, and we were trying to come up with a theme for performing and she came up with that idea and we decided to use for the video as well.

“You’re The One That I Want” (John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John)
We like doing videos, at first it was very uncomfortable. The first video started on a couch and director Trey Fanjoy told me to just lay back and act real sexy, and I said I’m not that. . .it’s just awkward, ya know.”
“Keep On Lovin’ You”
6. Who are you most excited to see perform here?
[photogallerylink id=71703 align=left]Meghan – “I think it’d be cool to see [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ronnie Dunn[/lastfm], I’ve never seen him by himself.” “We are going to be performing at the Fan Jam and I think it will be really cool to see [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Sugarland[/lastfm] with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm].”
Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles) and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm] “California King Bed” performance at ACM Fan Jam live from Mandalay Bay!
7. If you could do a duet with any artist of a different genre, other than country, who would it be?
Meghan – “It would be really cool to do a (CMT) Crossroads with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tom Petty[/lastfm].” “[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] would be cool too.”
We thought we’d love to see Meghan and Josh re-create this video! With her beautiful ivory skin, Meghan could be the perfect mannequin!
Tom Petty “Last Dance With Mary Jane”
Josh – “[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Paul McCartney[/lastfm].” We’ve picked out the perfect McCartney hit for you! Knowing that it came out (April 1970) about about 16 years before you were born we are posting a clip!
Paul McCartney “Maybe I’m Amazed”
8. What was your last job before you became a full time country music artist?
Meghan – Karaoke Host at Buck Wild. “I’m embarrassed to say because it’s changed so much and now girls dance around there in thongs, I never did that, when I worked there…”
Josh – “Valet Parking.” You can park my car anytime Mr. Jones!

9. What’s up next for you?
“We’ve just gotten some dates to open with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bob Seger[/lastfm] as the solo opening act that we are very excited about!”
We also are performing at the Downtown Hoedown in Detroit. “Last year was the first year we played with a full band, in front of close to 300,000 people, it was our first full band gig, the most people we have ever played for.” Get Steel Magnolia Tour dates and information here!
10. What would you like people to know about you that maybe they don’t?
Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.Meghan and Josh hesitated on this and their tour manager Eric piped in “I don’t think people know how much of what good hearts they have, just really good, kind people.” Jokingly, and in true Josh fashion, he added, “we really want people to know how talented we are!” We witnessed this as Josh made a feeble attempt at shooting a crumpled paper into the waste basket and missed…
Thank you to Josh and Meghan of Steel Magnolia and Big Machine Records for giving us a few minutes of your time! We wish you all the best on your upcoming tours and look forward to talking with you again!
